More info

The Almedina is a hand-made instrument inspired by the guitars of the great Spanish tradition that were produced up to the Second World War, and as such it has all the physical and musical characteristics of those instruments:

  • LIGHTNESS
  • DIMENSIONS
  • FLEXIBILITY
  • SENSITIVITY
  • EXTENSION OF THE DYNAMIC RANGE TO PIANISSIMO
  • DEEP BASSES AND BRILLIANT TREBLES
  • EXCEPTIONAL PROJECTION

It is made entirely by hand according the rules of the most classical tradition of guitar making. In its materials, too, we find the most traditional kinds of wood for the back and ribs, the use of only spruce for the soundboard, cedar for the neck and rosewood for the fingerboard.

The choice of woods is determined wholly by acoustic factors, as are the ‘ingredients’ employed in construction. The only glue used in assembling the entire instrument, for example, is the traditional bone glue – the glue of choice for hand-made instruments – while the varnish is shellac, another natural material indispensable to the construction of musical instruments.

Excellent!

I am certain that Mr. Waldner has fully achieved his objectives in the design and construction of these beautiful instruments. I have number 49 and I could not be happier. My guitar is indeed wonderfully light and sensitive. The basses are deep and the trebles are brilliant and the projection exceptional precisely as advertised. Now I understand what Mr. Waldner means when he says..."extension of the range to pianissimo" which I have not experienced before this guitar. In addition, the tones are of a warm and sweet nature that defy description.
I also applaud Mr. Waldner's efforts to produce an instrument affordable for a student. As a student of the guitar, I am excited because I know that this instrument will help me to move forward and improve as a player.
I also appreciate the historical similarity of these instruments to the great guitars of the master Torres from the late 1800s. I know that it takes courage and great skill to build instruments to these very thin dimensions. These instruments are 2/3 of the weight of modern classical guitars. I am sure that buying one of these fine instruments is as close as I could get to buying a new guitar from Torres in the 1880s. I also highly recommend his book "La Chitarra di Liuteria. Masterpieces of Guitar Making" which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Almedina, Almedina, Almedina!

Grazie infinite Luca! Alessandro

Almedina

I've been playing my Almedina for almost a month now and I have to say that I love it! I have never played such a light and senative guitar. It is the easiest guitar you will ever play and it is very fast. The guitar is small and incredibly light but produces a huge sound that is very well rounded. I've owned $12,000 concert guitars that are huge and bulky and this guitar out plays and sounds better then all of them. Luca makes an amazing instrument and I would recommend anyone to buy one. Your hands wont get tired from playing this guitar and you wont want to stop. Simply amazing.

Splendida!

Grazie Luca! sei grande
